The First Challenge: Fifa/Football Manager

tactics-board1

Dear Redditors. These are dry times. We are rumored to sign a few players, a few staff members and we are discussing whether Moyes doing this or that is good or bad.

Earlier I asked around if people were interested in a challenge, and I got some decent response. I spend a lot of time playing football related games during the summer. No school, most friends are travelling, you got a lot of spare time. I fill it with Football Manager and Fifa. I am going to give two different challenges, one for FIFA and one for Football Manager. The winner of the challenge is going to win him or herself a game on Steam, which would be the incentive to participate! That and of course your deep interest in football related games combined with Man United. I have gotten permission from the moderators to post this “semi-related” United post, and hope as many as possible tries it out.

Fifa 2013 or 2012 if you do not have the 13-version. Latest possible patch.

You are going to take over a team in a lower league. The highest you can go is Npower League 2, under the England category. What I want you to do is to loan and sign United youngsters and ex-United players. Examples: Take over Bradford City, loan Ryan Tunnicliffe, sign Scott Wooton and Eric Djemba-Djemba. The more United players you can get, the better. I want you to be the team that made all the United youngsters good and got a promotion.

The challenge is to get a double promotion, meaning you have to get a promotion to The Championship. Both seasons, you need to sign Man United players or ex-United players. Can’t afford one? Sell someone and replace him with a United/ex-United player.

If my math is correct, and you’ve done well and gotten promotions, you’ll have a team in the Championship containing at least 4 United or ex-United players, having atleast one on loan (I recommend having more than one!) after two seasons. You are of course allowed to sign other players as well, but I want you to make a core of United players in your team and see you do well with them.

Summary:

– Take over Npower league 2 team

– Sign atleast one United player

– Sign atleast one ex-United player

– Loan atleast one United player

– Get a promotion

– Sign atleast one United player

– Sign atleast one ex-united player

– Loan atleast one United player

– Get a promotion

Reward: A game on Steam.

During the progress:

Make small notes and take pictures/screenshots to cover your progress. This is what I am interested in. How did you do? Why did you sign this and that player? Did they develop? Did you become successful with the team you chose and the method you were “forced” to use? This is how we pick our winner.

Football Manager 2012 or 2013 challenge. Latest possible patch.

For the Football Manager challenge, I am taking a different approach. You are going to manage Man United. But there are some conditions you have to fulfill in order to win the challenge. I’ll make a list. You have to;

– Sell any player that is older than 27 if another club makes a bid for him that matches his value. That means that if someone makes an offer for Vidic, Lindegaard or Ferdinand, you have to accept the bid

– You have to play with a variation of the 4-2-3-1 formation. That means one striker, three attacking midfielders, two midfielders and four in defense.

– You have to sell five players from the reserves team and promote five academy players

– You have to loan out five players from the reserves team

– You have to give three players that are under the age of 21, atleast 15 involvements in the league through out the season. You can sub them on or start them, but they have to be given match times. Example: You give Powell, Januzaj and Michael Keane 5 starts in the league and 10 sub-ons.

– You have to sign another British talent from a lower league and implement him in the squad. Example: Sign Tom Ince and use him as a rotation attacking mid in your team.

– You have to buy two midfielders to compete with Anderson, Cleverley and Carrick for the midfield position.

Goals for the season: Fulfill the conditions above and win the league. If you can do this, you have a chance of winning a game on Steam.

Picking the winner:

I will make a thread on r/reddevils the 10th of  June where you all get to post your progress and results. Will spend a day or two to go through it all and decide on a winner. Will choose one winner for FIFA and one for Football Manager. You can win both if you have a lot of spare time in the next 7 days :p .

Good luck!
